Her talk, entitled "Lipins, Autophagy, and Metabolic Disease" was co-sponsored by the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Biophysics, UMN, and the Minnesota Obesity Center.

Charles J. Billington, M.D., Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Nutrition, VA Medical Center presented at talk entitled “The Vagus Nerve and Obesity” at the UMN Endocrine City-Wide Conference. Dr. Billington is the Associate Director of the Minnesota Obesity Center.

Thomas Seyfried, Ph.D., Professor of Biology at Boston College, presented a seminar entitled "Cancer: A Metabolic Disease with Metabolic Solutions." During his visit, Dr. Seyfried met with investigators from the Minnesota Obesity Center. This seminar was co-sponsored by the Masonic Cancer Center and the Minnesota Obesity Center.

Hans-Rudolf Berthoud, Ph.D., Pennington Biomedical Research Center, will present a seminar entitled “Food, gut, and brain align to determine both metabolic and mental health” on the role of the nervous system in the processes maintaining energy homeostasis and nutrient intake. During his visit, Dr. Berthoud will meet with investigators from the Minnesota Obesity Center. This seminar is co-sponsored by the Neuroscience Seminar Series and the Minnesota Obesity Center.
